How to play Dominoes

Read the aim of Dominoes, then make your first move. Empty your hand, or hold fewer pips when both players are blocked. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions. Compare the starting position with the example in the Guide. Use the example below to understand a decision.

Double-six draw dominoes, local two players with shared-screen visible hands.

Make the controls familiar

Locate the buttons and input area before beginning a long round. Use the on-screen labels to avoid an accidental restart. Use the example to check your reasoning.

Your goal

Empty your hand, or hold fewer pips when both players are blocked. The feedback beside the game helps you follow the round. Keep the controls in easy reach.

Step by step

  1. Play a tile matching either open chain end.
  2. Choose which end to use.
  3. Draw only when no tile fits.
  4. Pass only with no legal tile and an empty stock.

Controls

Click or tap a piece and destination; use the turn indicator and legal-move feedback. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. Use one clear input at a time.

A useful example

An open 4 accepts 4–2, leaving 2 open. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Keep the game’s format in mind.

Watch out for this

You cannot ignore a legal match to draw. Compare the situation with the worked example. Read one step at a time and try it on the playing area. Match the instruction to the control you use.
